You display two decks of cards, one red back, one blue back, and ask the spectator to pick one, and hold the other. You fan the deck face up, casually showing that the cards are all different, and in no particular order. You turn the deck face down and give the spectator an absolutely free choice of one card. That card is removed from the deck and placed face down on the table. You ask the spectator to spread the cards from the other deck. He finds one card face up. Turning over the card he freely selected, he finds that the two cards match. What's more, when he turns over the card from the second deck, he sees that it is the only card in the deck whose back matches the card he selected. And remember, you haven't touched that deck since the start of the trick. |
